About this game
This entry runs the archived Alone in the Dark demo. Its original launcher offers F1 to start the game and a configuration menu. If the first launch asks for hardware settings, Sound Blaster and a QWERTY keyboard work with the browser setup. Choose a character, confirm with Enter and continue into the attic; this package is not the complete retail adventure.
Up and Down move forward and backward relative to the character, while Left and Right turn. Enter opens the action and inventory screen. Select an action with the arrows and confirm with Enter. Back in the scene, hold Space to perform it: Open/Search examines a nearby object, while Fight uses Space together with an arrow to attack.
Face the object you want to investigate before opening the action menu. A quick tap may not finish an action, so keep Space held until the character responds. Learn the turn-and-walk movement in the opening room before approaching a threat.
