About this game

Millennium Gun is a Game Boy platform adventure made by Flightbun for the 2025 Game Boy Competition. The creator introduces Bot, a bounty hunter in the Thorny Desert who comes across an unusual weapon during a space-pirate skirmish. Its defining feature is the recoil: firing sends Bot backward, making a shot part of your movement as well as an attack.

Press Enter at the title to begin. Use the left and right arrow keys to move, X to jump, and Z to fire. These are this site’s keyboard equivalents of the Game Boy A and B buttons. The creator’s own web player uses different keyboard letters, so follow the controls listed here when playing this version.

Try a few jumps and shots on the flat starting ground before moving further into the desert. Leave room behind you when firing, especially near an edge. Enter pauses the game; press it again to resume. This entry uses the archived competition build.
