About this game
Race for the PS9 is a 2025 Game Boy shooter by gerzytet, Joserichi and Val. You and a rival want the last console in a distant shop. The race begins with your ship a minute behind; reaching the end of stage 3-3 with a positive time balance is the goal. Taking hits costs time, so dodging matters as much as shooting.
Press Enter at the title to start. Arrow keys move the ship. X fires its right weapon and Z fires its left weapon; most weapons keep firing while held. In menus, X confirms and Z goes back. These are the browser equivalents of the original A and B buttons.
Destroyed enemies drop coins. Between waves, route choices can lead toward a shortcut, a detour or a shop. Each side carries one weapon, so buying a replacement changes that side's attack. The warp drive improves travel speed and movement. Charged weapons need a different rhythm from the basic guns: hold their button to build a shot. The game's original instructions recommend a Game Boy Color for this release.
