About this game

Moraff’s Entrap is a turn-based chase on a suspended playing field. Your goal is to reach its far end while avoiding the robots moving toward you. Every move matters: the path is narrow, and opening or filling a hole changes the routes available to both you and your pursuers.

The original help uses the numeric keypad for movement in eight directions. Hold Shift with a direction to burn a hole, or Alt with a keypad direction to fill one. Moving farther along the field earns points, while movement and altering the path have their own costs.

This is Beginner’s Version 1.11 of Steve Moraff’s 1990 game, not the Advanced edition with additional difficulty levels. At startup, choose a drawing speed and a video mode; the tested setup is 2 for medium speed followed by 6 for VGA. Original notices and help remain in the package.

Quick tips

Choose 2 at the speed prompt and 6 at the video prompt, continue through the notices, then choose 1 to play.

Plan a route before altering the path. A hole can block an enemy but may also block your own next move.

The full eight-direction controls use the numeric keypad, including diagonal keys. A keyboard is useful for the Shift and Alt combinations.
