About this game
Galactix is Cygnus Software's 1992 fixed-screen space shooter. Your ship slides across the bottom of the screen while enemy formations sweep overhead. Alongside the main cannons, you carry a limited supply of missiles and bombs, and your energy meter determines how long you can stay in the fight.
The claw is the game's distinguishing feature. Launch it to retrieve floating bonuses: M replenishes missiles, B adds bombs, S adds a gun and E restores energy. Collecting stronger weapons helps, but taking enough damage can strip those extra shots away. Positioning to catch an upgrade matters as much as firing at the next formation.
This is the original DOS 1.5 final release, described by its own program as free shareware and by its manual as a complete game. It is not the later Windows trial. The original installer has already expanded the data and configured keyboard input and Sound Blaster Pro audio; the original archive, executable, electronic manual and notices are preserved.
Choose Start Game with S, then use Space to skip the departure animation. The original keyboard layout uses Ctrl to move left and Alt to move right; the touch direction buttons follow those documented keys. This is an arcade run, so the site's file backup should not be mistaken for a snapshot of the current wave.

Quick tips
Use S at the main menu and Space to move past animations before testing the controls.
Line up the claw with a floating bonus before pressing C; simply flying underneath does not collect it.
Keep an eye on energy: the manual warns that extra guns can be lost when it falls below the green range.
Save bombs for crowded formations or asteroids. Missiles and bombs have separate counters.
