About this game

Hover Craft puts you on an island with enemy missile launchers and lets you adjust the battle before starting. The original menus control the number of launchers, their firing interval, terrain and other options. Your goal is to destroy every launcher while avoiding incoming missiles and obstacles.

Movement and firing use separate key groups. E moves up, S left, D down and F right. The numeric keypad aims the cannon: 8, 4, 6 and 2 fire in the four main directions, while 7, 9, 1 and 3 fire diagonally. These are keypad keys, not the number row above the letters. Holding movement and firing together lets you sweep across a missile’s path. A full keyboard is the easiest way to learn this layout.

On the first launch, choose a display mode, continue through the introduction and answer N to the joystick question. Learn mode is initially on, so Begin game can show a guided demonstration. For direct play, open Options with O, turn Learn mode off with L, then press B. This is the July 1990 version 1.10 shareware release, retaining its original files and notices; it does not include version 2.

Quick tips

Choose V for VGA, or Shift+V to skip the tune. Continue the opening pages and answer N for keyboard play. In the main menu use O → L to disable Learn mode, then B to begin.

Use E/S/D/F to move and the numeric keypad to aim. Keep moving across incoming missiles rather than driving straight towards them.

P pauses, K toggles automatic keyboard fire, and L reports the remaining launchers during play. Keep clear of a launcher when destroying it. Esc returns to the menu.
