About this game

Kalakh is a DOS version of a traditional sowing game, presented with colourful illustrated boards. You play against Jinnee, the computer opponent. Your six pits are along the bottom and your store is on the right; Jinnee uses the upper row and the store on the left. The aim is to collect more coins in your store than the opponent.

Choose one of your nonempty pits. Its coins are distributed counterclockwise, one at a time, skipping the opponent’s store. Finishing in your own store earns another turn. If the last coin lands in an empty pit on your side and the opposite pit contains coins, you capture both piles. When one row empties, the remaining coins are collected and the totals decide the winner.

Press Enter past the title, click a lower pit and enter a player name when asked. The Game menu offers a new game and hints; Help explains the rules used by this particular version. This original freeware package was created in Moscow by programmer Sergey Ryzhkov, artist German Kondrashkov and collaborators Lev Belov, Rustem Achijarov and Oleg Perelet. The game interface remains in English.
