About this game
Wacky Wheels is a 1994 DOS kart racer developed by Beavis-Soft and distributed by Apogee. Animal drivers compete on compact tracks, with pickups and weapons adding interruptions to the race. This page hosts the original 1.1 shareware release.
For a first race, choose Single Player Racing, an available driver, Amateur Class and a lap count, then choose the engine speed and Bronze Wheels race. Drivers marked Order Me belong to the registered release. The game also lists other play modes, but this browser setup has been tested with single-player keyboard racing.
The controls are not the usual arrow-key accelerator: hold Alt for the throttle, use Left and Right to steer, Down to brake and Space for a handbrake turn. Ctrl fires when you have ammunition. Enter confirms menu choices; Esc opens the race menu, including restart and the original Save and Quit option.
This is the original DOS 1.1 shareware release distributed by Apogee. The registered tracks and drivers are not included. The controls here describe the original keyboard defaults; use the game’s menus to choose the race settings.

Quick tips
Hold Alt to accelerate; Up is not the default throttle.
Wait for the starting signal before judging whether the controls are responding.
Learn the bends at the slower engine setting, then use Space with steering for tighter handbrake turns.
