About this game
Charlie the Duck is Mike Wiering's side-scrolling platform game. This package includes the English version 2.4 instructions, covering an update to the game originally released in 1996. The controls distinguish walking, running and jumping, so learning the layout helps before attempting a longer gap.
Left and Right walk, Ctrl held with a direction runs, and Alt jumps. Down lets Charlie dive in certain places. Use Up and Down in menus, then Enter or Space to choose an option. The in-game Options, Controls and Redefine Keys menus can change the defaults.
P pauses and F1 opens help. The original game's F2 and F3 save and load controls are separate from the browser interface. The manual's boss advice for the first world's large fish is to land above its eyes five times. Extra worlds are described as registered-version content, so their presence is not promised for this archived shareware release.
