About this game
Monster Bash is Apogee Software’s 1993 platform game starring Johnny Dash, a boy searching for his kidnapped dog Tex and the other missing pets. Rather than simply racing to an exit, you must free every dog and cat in the level before you can leave. Cages, climbing routes and enemies turn each stage into a rescue expedition.
Move with Left and Right, jump with Ctrl and fire the slingshot with Alt. Tap Down to crawl; you do not need to keep holding it. Up or Jump makes Johnny stand again. Up also enters a door when you are in front of it. Up and Down climb suitable objects, but you cannot shoot while climbing.
Choose Begin Game, then Part 1. On the illustrated episode and difficulty screens, use the arrows and Alt to select; Enter alone does not make that selection in this build. Esc dismisses the opening hint. Page Up and Page Down look around the level, and F10 opens its hints.
The package is original DOS shareware version 2.1, with Part 1 only. It retains the cartoon horror setting, monsters and pixel violence of the original release. The other two episodes are not included.
