About this game

Vinyl Goddess from Mars is a 1995 DOS platform game produced by Six Pound Sledge Studios and published by Union Logic. A meteor shower forces the heroine to abandon her damaged ship on an unfamiliar planet. Reaching the ship again means crossing forests and ruins, collecting belongings and dealing with creatures along the way.

The first episode, Forests of Old, links its stages through an overhead map. Follow the paths to circular level entrances, then explore side-scrolling areas with jumps, throwable weapons and coloured keys. Looking up or crouching can reveal more of a level before you commit to the next jump.

This is the original DOS 1.1 shareware release of Episode I. Episodes II and III may be advertised in the original menus, but their registered content is not included here. The package's manual and distribution notices are retained, and the original SETUP program has configured keyboard input and Sound Blaster 16 audio so installation is not required before play.

Use the arrows and Enter in menus. On the opening map, follow the path north and then northeast to reach the first level entrance. In the level itself, Ctrl jumps and Alt throws a weapon after you collect one. Esc opens options including native Save Game and Restore Game. Those are the game's own options; the website's file backup is a separate step, not an emulator quick-save.

Quick tips

The opening overhead view is a world map. Follow its paths to the circular entrances that lead into the stages.

Pick up a weapon before expecting Alt to attack; the first level places one near the starting point.

Use Up to look above and Down to crouch and look below before jumping into an unfamiliar area.

Keys match the colour of their locks. If a route is blocked, look back through areas you may have passed.
