About this game
War-8}! is Jake Firth’s turn-based tank duel for two people sharing a keyboard. Each side begins with five tanks on a randomly generated landscape. Pick a surviving tank for your turn, then choose a weapon and try to leave your opponent without any tanks. Buildings and hills affect the line of fire, and explosions can reshape the battlefield.
Aiming is a timing challenge. Instead of typing an angle, stop the rotating indicator when it points where you want to fire. The rocket-propelled grenade also needs a power setting; the amplified light pulse needs only a direction. The pyrotechnic missile adds a fuel setting and a separate detonation key. White borders reflect shots, which makes indirect attacks possible.
This is the original DOS shareware package, including the author’s instructions. Press Space through the opening notice and again at the title screen to begin. There is no computer opponent in this release: the two human sides take turns with the same keys. Start with the light pulse to learn the aiming gauge before trying the missile.
